Liam O’Neill

Liam O’Neill has been in education for over twenty years. He has supervised, written curriculum and taught a variety of subjects and levels. His passion is teaching language, including Mandarin Chinese, English as a new language and English literature. A background in TV and theater help him bring interactivity into his classes. He received a BA from Swarthmore College and an MA from New York Institute of Technology.

Dr. Marilyn Torley, Ed.D.

ESL Instructor

An accomplished educator and administrator, Dr. Marilyn Torley brings over 30 years of expertise in fostering character development and community engagement among college students. Holding a Doctorate in K-12 School Administration from Seton Hall University, she is certified in multiple areas, including New Jersey and Texas Elementary Education (K-8), Reading (K-12), and School Administration. Dr. Torley is dedicated to creating inclusive learning environments that inspire creativity, ethical leadership, and personal growth. Her mission is to empower students to excel academically while cultivating empathy, integrity, and civic responsibility, preparing them to make meaningful contributions to society.

Matthew Guertin

ESL Instructor

Matthew Guertin has taught English in a variety of academic settings since 2021. As an ESL instructor, he has experience teaching a variety of English language learner populations, from immigrants looking to secure better jobs to undergraduate and graduate students seeking a better command of written and spoken English for their coursework. Matthew appreciates deeply what it takes to express oneself well in English, having completed three humanities Master's degrees (two in theology, one in philosophy) and being himself a published English poet. In his spare time, Matthew enjoys reading, taking long walks, and good conversations.
